What Is Lip Lift?

Lip lift can be applied to healthy people with local anesthesia or accompanied by a mild sedative called “sedation”. It is a process of approximately 45 minutes. After 1-2 hours of observation after the application, the patient can return home and a slight swelling and tension may be felt in the lip for 3-4 days. In this process, feeding with soft foods and not stretching the operated area will contribute to the healing process.

While laughing and talking for 2 weeks, mild discomfort may occur in the area, but no serious pain is experienced. Stitches heal in as little as 1 week. However, it takes 1-2 months for the mild redness in the area of the wound to go away completely.

What are the techniques used in lip lift process?

An incision is made just under the nose, where the upper lip area meets the nose. The length that we will consider as excess is subtracted.

After the excess skin is removed, it is stitched together. It is important to close the incision in layers. Because it is vital that the sutures are placed under the skin to maintain the shape of the lip and provide sufficient strength. After the deep suture is placed, the skin edges are meticulously aligned to make the incision as little visible as possible. Lip lift surgery shapes the “cupid arc” (two different peaks above the upper lip) and redefines the distance between the base of the nose and the top of the lips.

In which situations can you have a lip lift procedure?

FAQS

Is lip plumping and lip lift the same?

Lip plumping or thickening can be confused with lip lift process, although they are very different from each other. In lip augmentation processes, the lips are thickened by using various fillers. However, in the lip lift procedure, the area between the upper lip and the tip of the nose is reduced and the hollowness in this area is highlighted. As can be understood from this definition, it is not possible to thicken the lip with this method and additional filling is required for this.

Can lip lift be combined with face lift applications?

If you have a complaint of sagging or wrinkles on your face, a combined aesthetic surgery can be performed with any of the surgical or non-surgical face lift methods together with the lip lift procedure.
